MAKE-UP WORK
Students are expected to complete make-up work missed while they were absent. A zero will be given for work that has been required by the teacher and has not met the guidelines for make-up work. When a student is absent three days, a request can be made for make-up work on the morning of the third day and can be picked up after school. When an absence occurs, it is the student’s responsibility to inquire about, complete and return all required assignments. Students should expect to do more paperwork than those who were in attendance because it is necessary to make up for classroom experiences missed. Teachers are willing to help students makeup as much work as possible.
Students absent more than five (5) days must make arrangements with their teachers for making up the work missed within one week (5 school days) after their return to school. Late work guidelines also apply to make-up work. When short or long term assignments have been given a predetermined date, no extra days are given for make-up work. If students are absent on a predetermined due date, the material is due the day the student returns to school. If a note was not received within 48 hours of an absence, the absence will be considered unexcused. The principal may require a physician’s verification of an illness at anytime. Parents are required to contact the school office by 9:00am on the day of an absence or in advance if known. Students must be in school by 10:00am in order to be considered present for attendance purposes. Students must be in attendance ½ of the school day in order to participate in school-related activities on that day or evening.
Awards for attendance will be given out at the end of the year:
